The senior school of Cowes Primary School uses an integrated curriculum approach to cater for all students learning needs. Our new state-of-the-art facility enables students to access resources and allows for free movement between learning stations such as traditional classroom settings, computer lab, kitchen, wet area and open investigation spaces. Our curriculum is guided by the Victorian Essential Learning Standards. Humanities and science based focuses run on a term-by-term basis. Learning is differentiated through spelling groups, target maths and writing groups and electives.

Grades 1 & 2

Students in Grades 1 & 2 at Cowes Primary School are encouraged to read and write independently. They read and respond to factual and fictional texts and have access to a range of graded texts which they can use at home and school. Students are taught reading and writing skills appropriate to their level of understanding and development. They are encouraged to move to the next phase of learning at a personally suitable pace.
Positive attitudes towards learning are fostered at all times. Social skills and behaviours which allow students to work together productively are always encouraged.
Each child is supported to apply maximum application and effort which is rewarded with ongoing achievement and academic and social growth.
